This competition which was originally organised by Mr Jeff Canning was run by Table Tennis NSW for the first time. We thank Mr Canning for his hard work in the initial organising of the competition which meant an easy passage on the handover to us.
Six Schools competed in the competition over a 10 week period. Each School provided players for 5 separate Divisions and such was the commitment of the Schools that all Divisions competed without any missing players.
Every match played in the competition counted towards determining the winner with The King’s School finally becoming the winning School by the barest margin of 207 wins to Knox Grammar School with 206 wins.
The result was in the balance all the last day with the highlight being King’s playing Newington College. Six matches went to 5 games but King’s players managed to win all six and thus retain their lead.
Congratulations to all the players, coaches and parents involved in the competition for their assistance in the successful running of the tournament.
The various division winners were:
Division 1 Trinity Grammar School
Division 2 Knox Grammar School
Division 3 Joint winners Knox Grammar School and The King’s School
Division 4 The King’s School
Division 5 The King’s School
We will now have to wait until Term 4 for the continuation of this excellent tournament.
