'I was privileged, along with a number of other Table Tennis people, to be invited by the CEO of PCYC NSW, Mr Dominic Teakle, to the official opening of the Hornsby Ku-Ring- Gai PCYC at Waitara on 8 November.
His Excellency, General, The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d), who is the Governor of New South Wales and Patron of PCYC NSW, performed the official opening in which he highlighted the efforts of the President of Hornsby Ku-Ring-Gai PCYC for his efforts over a 16- year period in pushing for the establishment of this State of the Art facility.
His unswerving efforts over such a long time must be applauded.
The facility incorporates a table tennis area with 14 tables permanently available 7 days a week. This now makes five centres in Sydney which are available 7 days a week.
It is a tribute to our State Coach, Paul Zhao, for the efforts he has put in with the PCYC to ensure our sport is a part of this facility. He has been working with this organisation for many years in their old premises at Hornsby and now in their new Waitara premises.
I have visited the club on a few occasions and each time have been impressed with the high regard in which they hold Paul.
Paul had organised for a number of players to be present at the opening who made themselves available for a hit with dignitaries following the formalities. The Governor took advantage of the opportunity to spend a large amount of time not only observing but also playing against these volunteers.
Table Tennis is held in high regard by the PCYC organisation, who previously commented to me their delight with not only this club but also the Cabramatta Fairfield, Newcastle, Armidale and Wagga Wagga Clubs who also host our game.
Make sure that you visit this state of the art facility
